Viewing Album: The Johnny Ray Files--There and back again on a rainy day
By:
Hank Stephens
Dates:
3/3/1989 - 3/3/1989
Album Info:
Glenn Marsh does a great job of documenting a day in the life of the Lafayette local. This is the late 80s as cabooses are still required by law, but it is late enough in the 80s that Norfolk Southern has abolished the Opelika Switcher and now works the Lafayette Branch from its P-Line terminal to the east in Columbus, GA. The pictures document the train running up to Opelika, running CSX to the junction with the branch, heading to Lafayette, turning the train and switching and returning to Opelika with swapped out loads.
