KCS F7A 4058
Title:  KCS F7A 4058
Description:  Kansas City Souther F7A 4058 was at West Yard near New Orleans, with SD40X 703. The 4058 was the only powered cab unit with the lower part of its body painted black, which made the yellow reflective stripe really stand out. The other cab units painted like this were F7B 73B, F3A slug 4050, and F7A slugs 4055 and 4056.

KCS F7A SLUG 4060
Title:  KCS F7A SLUG 4060
Description:  Kansas City Southern F7A slug 4060 was at WEST YARD, just west of New Orleans, between GP40-2 units 797 and 798. The 4060 had been built in August 1950 as F7A 73D. It was assigned engine number 90 in 1957, renumbered 4060 in 1978 and then rebuilt into a road slug in 1979. It was retired in 1990 and sold to Lloyd Peterson in 1991 who had it cosmetically restored as KCS 73D and placed it on display next to the KCS depot in Decatur, Arkansas in 1993.

Description:  Kansas City Southern F7A slug 4060 was on train No. 53 in New Orleans, between GP40-2 798 and GP40 788. The 4060 had been built in August 1950 as F7A 73D. It was assigned engine number 90 in 1957, renumbered 4060 in 1978 and then rebuilt into a road slug in 1979. It was retired in 1990 and sold to Lloyd Peterson in 1991 who had it cosmetically restored as KCS 73D and placed it on display next to the KCS depot in Decatur, Arkansas in 1993.

Description:  Kansas City Southern F7A slug 4060 was parked outside the diesel shop at WEST YARD, just west of New Orleans, between GP40-2 798 and another geep. The 4060 had been built in August 1950 as F7A 73D. It was assigned engine number 90 in 1957, renumbered 4060 in 1978 and then rebuilt into a road slug in 1979. It was retired in 1990 and sold to Lloyd Peterson in 1991 who had it cosmetically restored as KCS 73D and placed it on display next to the KCS depot in Decatur, Arkansas in 1993.

Description:  KCS F9Am's 4061 and 4053 sit outs the west side of the West Yard diesel shop, along with SW7 4302. The two F-units were rebuilt by EMD in March 1956 after a head-on collision at Sulphur Springs, Texas; which certainly contributed to their longevity. In late 1982 and early 1983 the KCS kept a pair of F-units at New Orleans as emergency power.

Description:  An uncommon view of a KCS F7B slug at West Yard, just outside of New Orleans, with nothing coupled to one end. The railroad had three B-unit slugs, and during this time they almost always showed up in New Orleans between a pair of geeps. The 4076 was coupled to GP40-2 797.

Description:  When Kansas City Southern NW2 4125 was photographed at DERAMUS YARD near Shreveport it was over 35 years old and would remain on the roster for another eight years. It, and its sibling the 4126, had been built in January 1942 as the 1125 and 1126, and were originally lettered Louisiana & Arkansas. They were relettered Kansas City Southern Lines in 1951, renumbered around 1974 and retired in 1985.

Description:  Kansas City Southern GP7 4154 was photographed at WEST YARD, just west of New Orleans. The locomotive had been built in November 1951 as KCS 154 and was renumbered in 1973. It was sold to the Kiamichie Railroad in January 1990 and renumbered KRR 706.
