Album Info:Because my dad and I were unable to make the Great Midwest Train Show in Wheaton, IL this past October, we decided to go in December. Unlike our usual one day outing, we decided to make it 2 days because there was a smaller train show in Hobart, IN that we had never been to the day before. The first day being on the Indiana side railfanning Pine Jct and other various Chicago Suburbs and the 2nd Day on the Illinois side in Wheaton and Blue Island. This album features photos from Day 1 after the first train show in Hobart, IN. Enjoy!

Description:  Today my dad and I are going up to Northwest Indiana to do some railfanning in the region after we go to a model train show in Hobart, IN. Tomorrow we will go to the Great Midwest Train Show since we were unable to do so in October. The train show in Hobart was pretty nice! I got a N-Scale Chessie System GP9, unmotorized. Afterwards we began our railfanning in Northwest Indiana. Today we plan to go to Pine Jct for the first time. We have heard good things from other railfans around the surrounding areas so we hope to see lots of trains! First though we began our day in Hobart on the CFE. Luckily for us there was a train tied down for the weekend there! The area is under a Winter Storm Watch and there is probably about 6 inches of snow on the ground here now.

Description:  Since this was the first time we had ever railfanned in this region, we tended to get lost quite a bit. We stumbled across Gibson Yard by accident, and we also stumbled across this by accident. Sitting on a side track at CP 100, the beginning of NSs Kankakee Line, there was an IHB switcher awaiting to come onto the main line by the Arcelor Mittal Plant outside of Whiting.
