Long before an ALCo diesel unit carried the MILW #571, this Baldwin 2-8-2 Mikado type steam locomotive had the honor. Built in Novembeer of 1920 as MILW 8271, it was later renumbered to MILW 571 in June of 1938 during the company reorganization. The loco was retired and scrapped in December of 1954. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,600 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
