AT&SF #30 |
Description: |
Built in 1918 by Pullman in Lot #4530 as business car #30, assigned to the Director in February 1928, later unassigned, rebuilt in March 1969 to camera car #30, renumbered in July 1970 to #5009, renumbered again in January 1973 to #73. The conversion to a camera car was done in order to provide film of the different Divisions for locomotive simulator car #5008 (to #70 in 1974), which had been rebuilt (also in 1969) from 31 seat club lounge-news stand-26 seat chair #3179 (P-S, Lot #6734, Plan #7508, 1947). The #5009/#73 was damaged at an unknown date in a switching accident and was subsequently sold or donated to the Kansas City Railroad Museum in Belton, MO, and later moved to the Western Railroaders Hall of Fame & Museum in Cherryvale, KS. Scanned with an Epson V550 from an original Kodachrome 35mm slide. |
