The locomotive is one of a handful of these thirteen 49-year old veterans to have been overhauled for non-revenue service. Thanks to a shortage of cab cars some of them have made a brief return to passenger service until more cabs are released from the PTC program. |

Minutes after the sun slipped below the horizon NJ Transit's "twins" rumble across the Hackensack River with Train #1171 to Suffern, NY at HX Drawbridge. The pair have been running together for most of the week as part of an ongoing effort alleviate the stresses of NJ Transit's PTC testing program. With so many locomotives tied up in daily testing these two "retired" veterans have been filling in for passenger service out of Hoboken. The 4119 would suffer a mechanical failure later in this run that once again makes an uncertain future for this pair in passenger service. |
