| Westbound train of "Eugene empties" descends through Caliente Creek Canyon between Caliente and Ilmon. SP 8317 was the lead unit on the helper of the Cajon Pass runaway in 1989 which wrecked at Duffy Street in San Bernardino. Its inoperable dynamic brakes were a contributing factor to the accident.
