According to utahrails.net, this locomotive was sold to Chrome Crankshaft Company, Chicago, Illinois on September 8, 1975 rebuilt to SW900M by the CRI&P at Silvis, Illinois, for Chrome; sold to Kaiser Steel as number 1029, Fontana, California, January 1977, now California Steel Industries, same location. It appears to have acquired a second exhaust stack during rebuilding, but the giveaway to the origin of Kaiser Steel 1029 is all the extra grab irons on the top of the hood. |
