E&M. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata E&M Shop Yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 August 1963. Shown here is a view even further to the right of the trusty turntable. Visible are dozens of locomotives in various states of repair: from work almost finished to being cannibalized. Many makes and models are represented. Visible on the same track to the left are PRR engines #5850 and #7071. #5850 is an EP-20 built by EMD in 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. #7071 is an EFS-17M built by EMD in 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. Further to the right is PRR engine #8987, a BS-12 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in 1951 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. |
