Miscellanea. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Philip R. Hastings that was taken near Canton, Pennsylvania, on 5 May 1957. Shown here (F to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4619 and #4414. Both are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works: #4619 was constructed in October of 1923 and retired in September of 1958, while #4414 was built in March of 1923 and retired in September of 1959. They're pulling a southbound mixed-cargo freight train. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Steam on the Pennsy's Elmira and Shamokin Branches" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (785-4). |
