PRR 5834, BH-50, 1955         
NST. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken just West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 2 July 1955. Shown here are two eastbound Pennsylvania Railroad trains about to pass under the 24th Street Bridge on their way into Altoona. On the right (R to L) are PRR engines #5834 and another "Centipede" whose road number is not recorded. Both are BH-50's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #5834 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in February of 1948 and retired in April of 1962. On the left (R to L) are PRR engines #5764 and an E-8 Class "A" unit whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5764 is an EP-22 built in November of 1952. From the R.R. Wallin Collection.

warren evans General Tom 5834 just came from the shop from being rebuilt and repainted for helper service re-classed to BH-10. between 3-1952, & 9-1952. So just being rblt the date of this is also between 3-1952 & 9-1952 5/26/2023 12:07:52 PM
