Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken during a railfan excursion on 13 April 1947. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6538, an E-5S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built as E-5 number "38" for the New York, Philadelphia, & Norfolk Railroad during 1913; rebuilt as an E-5S in 1913; acquired by the PRR and renumbered "6538" in August of 1918; and retired in September of 1949 after 36 years of faithful service.
