Apparently the Canadian Pacific had a critical need for AC traction motors to repair flood-damaged units, so the railroad decided to have the traction motor/axle combos removed from 10 AC4400CW’s that have been at the Wabtec-GE plant in Fort Worth waiting to be upgraded AC4400CWM units and to have these components trucked to Canada. The work was being done at the north end of the Wabtec-GE test track by CP personnel and a Hulcher crew from nearby Saginaw. The center combo on each truck was being completely removed, while the end combos were being replaced with idler axles. |
