Macon, Dublin and Savannah Turntable  Contributor's Pick!
Macon switcher 100, RS2 1700 and another RS on the turntable, and three steam locomotives, among them 544 and 537, in the macon roundhouse. Considering this is probably 1955 or 1956, it is impressive that steam lasted this long on a railroad that had to inovate in order to not get choked off by the ever expanding Central of Georgia, a railroad that started and ended in the same cities as the MDS. The MDS tirntable was located in Macon, Ga, and was in what was then and is now Central City Park. It ws in the general area that Central of Georgia 509 is, on the side of the now Geoegia Central yard facing the river.
