Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Newport, Pennsylvania, on 17 October 1960. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5843 and an E-8 unit whose number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD. #5843 is an EP-20 built in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. In this context, they're rockin' 'n' rollin' with Train #43. ("Tchowee"; #9 of 29) |
