| Built by the Brooks Locomotive Works (later part of ALCO) in March of 1898, it was originally Wisconsin Central 4-6-0 #225 ten wheeler. When the WC was finally merged into the Soo Line, the loco was renumbered to 2623. Note the crude swinging arm coal bucket loading that the fireman is doing. Specifics - serial #2927, nee-WC #225, class E-22,63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x26" cylinders, engine weight of 149,000 lb, tractive effort of 28,063 lb.
