Colorado & Southern snow plow #99201 was built in 1900 as CS #3 by the Cooke Locomotive & Machine Works. #3 was later renumbered CS #0270 and then #99201 and was eventually rebuilt in 1949. It operated on the Leadville to Climax line in Colorado until 1965. The large spinning blades at the front was operated by a self-contained steam engine inside the car, but the plow could not move under its own power. It had to be pushed by two or more locomotives depending on how deep the snow was. Now it resides at the Colorado RR Museum. |
