iCurve. Here is an image that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1920. Shown here is a pair of Pennsylvania Railroad Class "H" (2-8-0) "Consolidated" steam locomotives rounding the Curve on their way up the Allegheny Mountains with a freight train bound for Gallitzin and points West. In this context, they're about to pass another locomotive pushing another freight around the Curve. Partially visible at the right is the Kittanning Point Freight Station. The photographer's name, the locomotive road numbers, and the exact date are not recorded. |
