Grand Canyon Railways 239 idles at the station in Grand Canyon Village. 239 was built for Amtrak in 1977 as an F40PHR. in the early 200s, this unit and several others were purchased by the Grand Canyon Railway, who was planning to replace their aging fleet of ALCO/MLW FPA4 units then in service. 239 was re-geared to freight speeds, and was redesignated to an F40FH to reflect this. |
