Grand Canyon Railway 2097
GCRY 2097 "Kokopelli" is one of several ex-Amtrak cars now operating on Grand Canyon. 2097 was originally built for the Great Northern in the mid-1950s by Budd. The car briefly ran for Great Northerns successor Burlington Northern, before going to Amtrak in 1971-72. The car operated with Amtrak for 12 years, before going to Alaska for a year to alleviate an equipment shortage on the Alaska Railroad. The car returned in 1985, and operated with Amtrak for another 14 years, going to Grand Canyon Railway in 1999.
