Nice action shot of Union Pacific 4-8-2 moutnain type #7858 heading up a passenger train. The loco was built by Alco-Brooks in January of 1923 (serial #63764) and was leased to the LA&SL for their passenger trains between Los Angles and Salt Lake City. The loco served nearly 33 years before retirement in March of 1955. Specs - 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 29x28" cylinders, engine weight of 340,000 lb, tractive effort of 54,838 lb.
