Here is page 24 of a 64-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "World Famous Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, Pennsylvania Railroad." It was first issued in September of 1973. Top Photo: Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6853, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in April of 1950 after 24 years of faithful service. Bottom Photo, Partial Caption: "Here is an excellent view of the Kittanning Point passenger station, as seen from the signal bridge." Both photos taken by H.W. Pontin in July of 1940. |
